Why Buy (My) Art?

Thinking about hitting that "Buy" button? Let me share my genuine thoughts that might help you decide.

First of all, I honestly believe art should be displayed and celebrated. So when you're choosing a piece, trust your instincts - pick something that catches your eye, that you're naturally drawn to, something that you know will add value, colour, and joy to your home. Whether you end up placing it on your living room shelf or on the wall of your guest bathroom (yes, art belongs there too!).

Since you're here, contemplating this piece, I'm guessing something has already sparked your interest. That's always the first and most important sign. Can you already picture where it might go? I love hearing how my collectors display their pieces - some have created entire gallery walls, while others let a single piece become the focal point of their room.

Now, let's talk about art as an investment, because I get this question a lot. While I have to admit this isn't what guides my creative process, I understand it's an important consideration. Here's what I think: emerging artists like myself often represent a unique investment opportunity. As we develop our craft, build our reputation, and grow our body of work, the value of our early pieces tends to appreciate.

I'm constantly pushing myself to evolve - experimenting with new techniques, moving away from what's comfortable, and exploring new artistic territories. Each piece I create is unique and part of my ongoing artistic journey. I document everything I make, maintain a catalog of my work, and actively participate in art shows and exhibitions. These are all factors that typically contribute to an artist's work appreciating over time.

That said, I keep my prices as fair and reasonable as I possibly can right now. It's really important to me that money isn't a barrier - I want most art lovers to be able to own and enjoy my pieces. I aim to keep creating as long as I live and breathe, constantly refining my craft and pushing my boundaries.

So whether you're buying because you simply love the piece, starting your art collection, or thinking about the future value - there's no wrong reason. What matters most is that connection you feel with the artwork.
